Friends of Veterans is an all-volunteer organization whose basic mission is preventing homelessness for qualified veterans and their families who reside in New Hampshire and Vermont. Over the last five years FOV has averaged over $100,000 in financial assistance per year and in 2021 our current run rate significantly exceeds that amount.
Types of assistance include rental and mortgage assistance if eviction or foreclosure is imminent, utility payments if shut off is imminent, heating fuel assistance, and car repairs if the vehicle is needed for employment or medical appointments. In addition, we assist with home repairs if it is a livability issue. We also assist a veteran with PTSD to secure a service dog.
During the pandemic, we have closely monitored veteran needs and have provided additional flexibility as warranted.
Friends of Veterans is a 501(c)3 charitable organization as defined by the IRS.
