About FOV

FOV helps veterans and their families with rent, mortgage and utility payments.

Friends of Veterans is an all-volunteer organization whose basic mission is preventing homelessness for qualified veterans and their families who reside in New Hampshire and Vermont. Over the last six years FOV has averaged over $100,000 in financial assistance per year and in 2023 we assisted 131 veterans.

Types of assistance include rental and mortgage assistance if eviction or foreclosure is imminent, utility payments if shut off is imminent, heating fuel assistance, and car repairs if the vehicle is needed for employment or medical appointments. In addition, we assist with home repairs if it is a livability issue. We also assist a veteran with PTSD to secure a service dog.

We currently have a cap of $1000 on grants for rent, mortgage, security deposit and real estate tax requests that directly support our mission; other requests have a $750 cap. Fuel assistance requests may be considered if all other resources have been explored.

Friends of Veterans is a 501(c)3 charitable organization as defined by the IRS.
